Plautdietsch word of the day: bebrieeje
Taunte Aunn and Onkel Ejtmon always took great satisfaction in offering their farm-raised chickens at the local market. The task of schlacht-ing heena of course was not the most enjoyable task (for some). Being chased by chickens with no heads seemed bad enough, but then came the rest of the schlacht-ing process. Taunte Aunn said that she’d thrown up enough with morning sickness after having raised 10 children, so she left the nauseating job of heena bebrieeje to Onkel Ejtmon. Each year, they used the proceeds of the chicken money to visit frintshoft in Newton, Kansas.
Bebrieeje: to scald with hot water (which makes removing the feathers easier)
