The Winnipeg Enquirer recently received a report about a Former Winnipegger who flew from Saudi Arabia to Winnipeg for the sole purpose of buying his wife a Jeanne’s cake for her birthday. Greg Johansson made the 21 hour flight and landed at Winnipeg international airport on June 15.
Our reporters caught up with him to ask him about this astonishing testament of love. “I just wanted to do something special for my wife on her Birthday” says Johansson. “You know we can’t get Jeanne’s cakes in Saudi Arabia! There’s nothing even close! And if I may say, the hard bottom of Jeanne’s cake is still as hard as my wife’s bottom when she was 21! Back then we had to go all the way to the bakery on Notre Dame. We lived in Fort Gary at the time. Ahhhh the memories! Wife’s gonna be totally surprised!"
When asked if he thought the Jeanne’s cakes would clear Saudi customs, Johnasson replied, “I’m bringing 4 extra cakes to bribe customs officials” he said with a smile. And with that, we wished our former Winnipegger well as he flew back to the burning sands of Saudi Arabia with his Jeanne’s cakes!
